Macy’s 4th of July Spectacular

The Macy’s Independence Day boat cruise departs from Greenpoint Terminal Market in Brooklyn. The annual Cheez-It 355 at the Glen is one of the biggest motorsport events in the United States.
In 1998, the Grand Prix Festival at Watkins Glen celebrated its 50th anniversary. While it was a popular road race venue for decades, today the event is known for more than just fast cars and crowds. Watkins Glen continues to draw an enthusiastic audience to its iconic race tracks and is recognize as one of the premier road racing facilities in the United States. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the track will honor six legendary drivers from the 1950s.
The USGP race at the Glen was start by Richard Norman “Tex” Hopkins. Hopkins wore a lavender suit and held a cigar in his mouth. He gave his job his all, striding across the front of the grid with his back to the field, awaiting the start of the race. The winner of the USGP race was Hopkins’ longtime friend and mentor. The veteran racer also serves as an ambassador for the Boot Campaign, a campaign that engages all generations in support of the military.
Jersey City’s Star Spangled Spectacular
